Team Sport Horse Addition!!!

By now most of you have met our newest addition to the Sport Horse Team, Bill Harless! In our absence last week he took care of the home front and we are so excited to have him :) We wanted to share with you the experience he brings to our program…

Bill grew up in Oklahoma and rode from an early age. Starting with training his own barrel racing horses to showing in western pleasure and reining horse classes he thought he was a cowboy!  He trained most of his horses but always sought the help of professional trainers when needed.

Through his job in marketing, opportunities followed to travel to Calgary, Canada to set up a sponsorship for American Airlines with Spruce Meadows.  This was a turning point, as he decided to switch disciplines and learn to ride jumpers becoming friends with the owners of Spruce Meadows and also their riding master.  His early education came for him traveling to ride and lesson with him.

His resume includes time spent as the Senior Director of Marketing for the United States Pony Club, the Arabian Horse Association and developing sponsorships for the World Equestrian Center in Wilmington.

Bill has experience in the hunter ring, adult equitation competitions, and adult jumpers.  At his previous stable in Texas, he also gave beginner lessons to children and adults.  He says he likes the relationship that can develop between horse and rider by grooming and caring for them. His motto is "a good foundation and understanding the basics of riding can take you far in the show ring".

While the main goal in hiring Bill remains assisting Brian with grooming and performing the overall daily afternoon horse care, we are pleased to be able to offer a la cart services to all boarders for various grooming and tacking/un-tacking services. Stay tuned for more info as we are working out scheduling and fee structures of these services.
