Horse Shows 2021...

We’ve looked over the options for the remainder of the 2021 show season and wanted to reach out with an update and details. We had not planned anything concrete after the June Brave Horse and July Robert Murphy Show however with the increased interest in showing and for the sake of planning here we go…

First news we wanted to share is the closing of Hill Top Farm (i.e. Wild Air or Traders Point) as of October of 2021. After the passing of a family member and the aging of another the family has decided to sell the property so showing there will no longer be an option after this show season. IHJA will be hosting the Annual Show there for the last time the end of July/beginning of August, anyone interested should sign up early as this show has typically sold out quickly. New to the local circuit will be a September IHJA show hosted at the Hoosier Horse Park (yes, we do have one) in Edinburg, Indiana. We’re excited about this opportunity and look forward to our first visit there since several years. Again, we expect stalls will sell out quickly with the limited availability of local schooling shows.

New on the schedule for the first time ever will be the Traverse City Fall Horse Show in Traverse City, Michigan September 8-12 hosted by the American Gold Cup Group. Live Lucky and Brian will be competing in the USHJA Young Jumper Championships for 5 year olds. If you’ve never been it’ll be well worth the drive to visit (and cheer us on) or compete. Plan on staying all week and check out other local attractions, there is tons to do and the weather in September should be spectacular!

To conclude the 2021 schedule are the National Equitation Finals in Kentucky (October 27-31). A couple of weeks prior to the finals Brave Horse in October was originally on the radar however it is a Split Rock venue and stalls will be $300-400 depending temporary or permanent stalling. Based on this pricing, we opted to forgo this show and go back to WEC October 6-10 instead. Even though we have shown at WEC extensively, it will be the first NSBA vs. USEF rated show. As most of you are probably aware, WEC has opted to no longer host USEF rated shows after this past May. We are unfamiliar with the NSBA (National Snaffle Bit Association) but after doing some research their memberships are priced reasonably and the high standards and quality of the show does not appear to be affected in any way. Unfortunately anyone looking to add USEF points for year end qualifications will be unable to do so here but we are certain they will have their own programs in place by the end of their first Hunter/Jumper year.

The schedule is attached, share your thoughts and input! Within the next few days I will post schedule updates with these shows along with the cost estimates and prize lists (if available), look for those in your email inbox. Happy showing y’all :)
